Letter To President Of India

Smt. Pratibha Patil
President of India
Rashtrapati Bhavan,
New Delhi,
India.

Honorable Smt. Pratibha Patil:

This is to express our vehement condemnation of the merciless use of force on more than a hundred thousand Indian citizens including women and children who were unarmed, sleeping, fasting and exercising only their constitutional democratic rights to draw attention of Government of India by peaceful means to skyrocketing plundering and widespread corruption, during the “Satyagraha” against corruption on Ram Lila grounds in New Delhi on June 4th 2011.

The brutality of the police revisited the atrocities committed by British colonial rulers and emergency rule of Mrs. Indira Gandhi during 1975, which many of us have personally experienced and heard from our parents. Innocent, peaceful Satyagrahis assembled were tear-gassed, beaten up in lathi-charge and trampled by thousands of violent policemen under order from the UPA government.

The state-sponsored violence in a closed compound could have even led to an uncontrollable  stampede resulting in the loss of an enormous numbers of innocent lives. This cannot be Democratic India; this cannot be Mahatma Gandhi’s India; this is not India governed by rule of law and a democratic constitution, ensuring the fundamental rights of all citizens for assembly and peaceful protest and demonstration.

These events have left the people of Indian origin around the globe, particularly here in the USA, shocked and horror-stricken. We are thoroughly embarrassed for our native land, asking in disbelief what indeed is the difference between Indian democracy under UPA leadership and the Chinese dictatorial system, where no peaceful demonstration is allowed and any legitimate criticism against the ruling Communist Party is crushed with brutal violence as in Tiananmen Square.

The irresponsible, callous, fascist and totalitarian attitude of the UPA government is evident from the fact that neither the UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi nor Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh considers it necessary to provide an explanation and extend an apology to the nation. The prime minister even made a ridiculous statement that there was no other way except use of violence, near the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi himself – a global beacon of non-violence.

This display of naked power clearly appears to be yet another attempt to crush the ever-increasing strength of anti-corruption movements by the masses all over India, unfortunately implying UPA government intense desire to preserve the culture of corruption among their own political ranks and within the thoroughly corrupt bureaucracy they control. These were the actions of people who do not believe in either human rights for their citizens, freedom of speech guaranteed by the Indian Constitution or Indian values.

This is a serious threat to the fundamental rights of our brothers and sisters in India. The entire Diaspora around the globe as NRI, PIO and responsible Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) unequivocally condemn this act by the Government of India. We are convinced now more than ever as to why the UPA government is trying to brutally crush any and all peaceful anti-corruption movements. Irrespective of our political affiliation, we are totally united in expressing our disgust and anger against unconstitutional violation of democracy and human rights.

Sreemati Patil, as the President of India you have the constitutional duty to uphold democratic norms guaranteeing the freedom and inalienable right of all Indian citizens for peaceful assembly and protest, and also to dismiss a corrupt government which has clearly exhibited no desire to curb rampant corruption and hence lost all moral authority to govern the country. We fervently hope that you will restore freedom, human rights and democratic rights of the citizens by dismissing the corrupt UPA government.  People of India deserve a chance to democratically elect new leaders who will root out corruption.

Thank you for your consideration and thoughtfulness.

Sincerely,

GHHF Project and Appeal: Adopt and Sponsor ‘ONE TEMPLE for ONE LAKH’ in your Village

“The one God wears many masks.  In no other religion does the Supreme Being wear so many masks and invite worship in so many different forms as the eternal religion of Hinduism. Mythologist Joseph Campbell.

“The Mandirs have to play a significant role in the growth of the Hindu community in terms of its capacity to uphold Hindu Dharma…” Swami Dayananda Saraswati

Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) and Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi (HDPS) have been started in 2006 with a mission to preserve, practice, propagate and protect Hindu Temples and Sanatana Dharma; and also to take necessary legal and appropriate action to remove all the Hindu Temples from the government control. As many of you are aware that all the Hindu temples earning Rupees 50,000 or more are taken over by the state governments in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In the North all major Temples such as Shiridi Saibaba Temple, Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, Jagannath Temple, Amarnath Temple, Kashi Vishwnath Temple, Vaishno Devi Temple and other money making temples are taken over the respective state governments. They are depleting the resources, selling the temple lands, allowing the temple lands encroached, allotting temple lands for government projects, appropriating huge sums of money for Christians and Muslims, neglecting the maintenance of the Temples, allowing the temples to be dilapidated, closing down thousands and thousand of temples, appointing non-Hindus to the positions in the sacred temples, abusing the devotees who visit these temples, totally ignoring the religious leaders’ input in the management of the Temples, failing to provide adequate facilities for visiting Hind pilgrims to the Temples, diverting funds for private trusts, allowing secular anti-Hindu politicians to inaugurate the facilities at these temples, imposing extra charges on Hindu pilgrims to visit the temples and diverting temple funds to the state treasury at will.

By controlling and siphoning of the Temple resources, the state governments have managed to legalize the rampant corruption. Even within this legalized corruption, different layers of illegal corruption exist in these temples.

Please remember that no Christian Churches or Moslem mosques are under government control. In fact state governments and central government donate huge sums of money for mosques and churches, spend as much as 700 crores of rupees as a subsidy for Moslems to undertake Hajj pilgrimage in 2010, built air conditioned Hajj houses in every state, built separate airport terminals for Hajj pilgrims, and the list goes on. In contrast, not only Hindu pilgrims pay extra charges to visit the temples, they “sleep like beasts” on the side walks to visit their sacred places.

Sri Kamal Kumar Swami conducted two padayatras in Andhra Pradesh covering all the districts in the state to make Hindus aware of their right to manage their temples, and informing them about the government control of the temples, neglect of the temples, rampant corruption in the Temples,  and the need for repeal of the Endowment Act. During these padayatras, Sri Swami also talked about the Hindus responsibility to their religion and urging them to go to their village temples on a regular basis along with their family members, regularly conduct bhajans in the temples, celebrate all the festivals, and participate in the maintenance of the temple.

During these travels to thousands of villages, a number of people expressed their interest in  having a Templein their own neighborhood so that they can continue to practice their religion, uphold the dharmic way of life, and take the responsibility of managing their temples. They requested our organizations to help build small temples for the convenience of the people.  It is during that time the concept of  “ONE VILLAGE, ONE TEMPLE, ONE LAKH RUPEES (Rs. 100,000)” was conceived. Since that one Sthapathi was requested to develop the blue prints and sketch of the actual Temple image. Villagers will provide the seva (labor) to build these Temples. In many Dali communities and tribal areas, missionaries are taking advantage of their situation, exploiting them and enticing them. Many of them resist these enticing hooks and want to remain within their traditional faith. But they want to have their own place of worship so that they can feel identified, feel proud, and practice their age-old faith.

Model Village Temple: Architecture and Floor plans

Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) and Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi (HDPS) jointly sought the help of Sri Suresh Singh, who is a Diploma holder from TTD Shilpa Kalasala, Tirupati, to draw model Temple plan for villages. His CAD drawings are available on request.

The first project is sponsored by GHHF and HDPS. Anantarayudu Enni, a remote village in Nellore District, was selected to start the initial Project of constructing a Temple. In this remote village about one hundred families belonging to Scheduled Tribe are very religious and worship their Village  Deity called Chentamma. Bhumi Pooja (Ground Breaking Ceremony) was conducted and the construction of the Temple has already been started. TTD was requested to donate the Goddess Chentamma to the village.

REQUEST: Sponsor One Hindu Temple for ONE Lakh (Rs. 100,000)

All concerned Hindus are requested to sponsor one Temple in your village or any other village so that we can provide the place of worship for people who are eager, waiting and hoping to practice their faith.

We should give the opportunity for these people to take their children, have darshan of the presiding Deity / Murthi, pray at their time, identify with their gods and goddesses,  and make them feel proud of being a Hindu.

The battle of Kaliyuga has begun

Francois Gautier

Previously, the Congress was able to brazen out scandalous truth through bullying, deceit, lying and political cunning. Now it hopes that by slandering Ramdev and the RSS, it will be able to put a lid on mounting allegations of corruption against the party and the Government.

The world is a battlefield. All great gurus and avatars have incarnated themselves throughout the ages to help the forces of good, which in India are called ‘dharmic’, against forces which are inimical to the Evolution of Humanity and which are called ‘adharmic’, or even asuric.

The concept of the asura in India is very different from the West. There is no such thing here as the black and white renderings of American cartoons or the Christian idea of a benevolent god and a cruel devil. Keen observers of human history may have noticed that very often asuric forces take on the face of goodness and charity, or use half truths or semi-lies to appear good. But in the end, the harm they do should make them recognisable to all.

In this light, we can discard Mr Digvijay Singh: He incarnates the world of sycophancy, which is a perversion of the Indian bhakti tradition. Or even Mr Kapil Sibal, a more intelligent man, but who got so perverted by a lawyer’s mind that lying has become a second nature to him. History will probably judge Mr Manmohan Singh as a weak man, who was ready to close his eyes on everything just to stay in power.

But what about Ms Sonia Gandhi? What are the forces which are using her, maybe even in spite of her? Let us discard all those evil avatars attributed to her, such as her being a KGB or a Vatican agent, rumours which have been floating around for a long time. We should not also look at her personality, what she projects, or what people say about her, not even at her deeds. No, it is the visible consequences of her overt and covert actions which should tell us a story. What are the consequences of her being the unelected supreme authority in India since many years, one whose one word or glance can have innocent people teargassed and beaten up?

Well the first sign is the increase in terrorist onslaughts since she came to power; the 26/11 terror attacks and the inability of the Government to respond to them — on the spot, and later — are the best symbols of her presence at the top. There has also been a tremendous increase in Christian conversions since she came to power, a radicalisation of Islam in India and a galloping Westernisation, which is fast eradicating Indian culture in cities and major towns.

But to my mind, it is the attack on Hindu gurus, which is the most representative sign of her adharmic reign. For in Ms Gandhi’s India, Hindu gurus are not only mocked at, but they can also be imprisoned, attacked, killed one day. Nobody would dare touch an imam if he preaches secession, nor even a Christian bishop, but gurus are fair game today.

Now Swami Ramdev, who incarnates an old tradition of spirituality in India, of all these gurus who throughout the ages have come to teach and preserve this ancient knowledge which takes the form of hatha-yoga, pranayama, meditation or Ayurveda. Is he perfect? How to judge a guru, who is to grade them? Sri Aurobindo, in one of his aphorisms, said something like this: “Even if god were to manifest himself in front of thy very eyes, you would not recognise him.” I am not able to judge Ramdev, but I can say with confidence that what he teaches is good, because it has benefited thousands of people.

Why then is he run down so much by the Congress whose leaders have gone as far as calling him a thug? Well it’s an old British tradition which has been taken up by the Congress and part of the media. French historian Daniélou summed it up well in his History of India: “The British-controlled Congress utilised to the hilt its English-speaking Press to present the Hindu Mahashaba, which attempted to counterbalance the Muslim League’s influence, or the even more maligned Ram Rajya Parishad, as barbaric, fanatical, ridiculous; and the British media in turn, took-up, as parrots, the cry of their Indian counterparts.” (Histoire de l’Inde)

In the case of Swami Ramdev, there are also accusations of an ‘empire’ worth hundreds of crores and even an island. Well a guru has to decide: Either he stays in a cave and looks after his own salvation, or if he has come to help humanity, he will have first a few disciples, then a few hundreds, eventually thousands. He has to feed them, organize courses, satsangs, launch sewa projects. You need money for all that. Donations come, bigger and bigger, as the good work of this particular guru comes to be known. The funds have to be managed, more and more money is needed and gurus end up being like the head of a multinational corporation, with a hundred projects, all sewa-oriented, to manage. I have seen it at close hand.
The fact that Ramdev got manhandled is nothing new. Gurus come to save humanity, but men either mock them or even crucify them. That is also in the nature of things.

So who will win this battle of Kaliyuga? Sri Aurobindo came to announce the Supramental: He said that as there was man after the animal, so would there come a superman after man. Not the superman of the Hollywood series, but a man who is closer to beauty, love, compassion. One of the main attributes of the supermind, he stated, would be truth.

This is why at the moment in India, the magnifying glass of truth is put upon men and events and falsehood comes out in the form of the stupendous scams that have happened in the last few years.

Previously, the Congress was able to brazen it out, through bullying, deceit, lying and political cunning. Will it be able to do so this time? We have seen how it hopes that by slandering Ramdev and his very nice assistant, planting rumors, using the eternal scarecrow of the RSS (those old fuddy-fuddies, who most of the time could not harm a fly), it hopes to put a lid on all the suspicions which are hanging over their head.

For the first beneficiary of the 2G or the CWG scams, is not the DMK, but the Congress. They are the ones who have institutionalised political corruption, the bribing of parliamentarians and elections which cost hundred of crores to elect a single MP.

If truth does triumph, then Ms Gandhi’s role will also come in the open, along with the truth about Italian middleman Ottavio Quattrocchi and the enormous covert funds the Congress is believed to be controlling. It may take time, but karma is inevitable. That is also an ancient Indian truth.

I like Manmohan Singh. He has immaculate credentials. It’s these credentials that have seen the UPA through its most stormy years. If Singh wasn’t Prime Minister, the Government would have collapsed a long time back. No, not because of its inherent coalition contradictions but because it’s simply not possible for so many crooks with conflicting agendas to loot the country together, almost as if in perfect unison. The Indian Political Philharmonic Orchestra must be the world’s most amazing cacophony of rogues, rascals and robbers.

Luckily for the UPA, there was always Singh to fall back on. Most middle class Indians refuse to be cynical. We know exactly what’s happening around us, we criticise it constantly, but when it comes to the crunch we all rally around the nation and the flag. We are not bat-brained paranoids. Neither are we wide-eyed innocents ready to buy into every ridiculous explanation thrown our way to explain the loot that’s taking place in broad daylight. But the latest season of scams has flummoxed all. This is not just Alibaba and his chaalis chors. Everyone among the chaalis chors is another Alibaba with his own chaalis chors. That’s the way the pyramid of crime operates today. But because Singh, soft spoken and self effacing, is the face of this Government, India has kept faith.

But now, enough is enough. Neither Singh nor Pranab Mukherjee, nor anyone else is capable any more of saving this Government. It’s neck deep in its own sticky sleaze. What’s worse, you haven’t seen anything yet. All these scams are but the tip of the iceberg. Talk to anyone and you will get an instant dhobi list of scams in queue to break. No, I am not saying this. Congress leaders are, in private. Look at Singh, wan and waylost. Or Mukherjee going apopleptic in faux anger because he has to defend what he knows is indefensible. They look less convincing than Rakhi Sawant playing Joan of Arc.

The problem is: We have voted into power the stupidest bunch of thieves. They are such losers that they can’t steal a hamburger without leaving ketchup stains all over. Yet they are constantly trying to pull off the biggest scams in history. From Rs 64 crore in Bofors, they have upped the ante to Rs 170,0000 crore in 2G and no, I am not including hundreds of aircraft Air India bought while sinking into bankruptcy and preposterous sums spent on arms deals that have made India the world’s second largest arms buyer when we can’t provide food and healthcare to 60% Indians. Our leaders are making deals on the sly with greedy builders, land sharks, illegal mining companies, corporate fixers, shady arms dealers and, O yes, US diplomats who want to manipulate our political choices. And, what’s more amazing, they do it like bungling idiots. Even Inspector Clouseau can outwit them.

But that doesn’t mean they are not malevolent. These are people who are destroying India from within. They are not just robbing you, me, and the exchequer. They are destroying institutions, subverting laws, vandalising our heritage and history, and trying to build a dazzling, amoral edifice of crime and corruption unprecedented in the nation’s history. It’s a scary scenario that could turn the land of the Mahatma into one gigantic Gotham City with a flyover to hell.

But my question is more basic: Can we trust these idiots to run this great nation? If you travel and meet people across India, you will realise that for every scam that breaks—and currently there’s one breaking every week—there are ten more waiting in line. The media has never had it so good! And it’s the same gang whose names keep coming up. Kalmadi, Satish Sharma, Sant Chatwal, Ashok Chavan. The NCP lot. The DMK. And everyone, in private, is protesting his own innocence, pointing fingers at someone else. It’s a sure sign of a collapsing regime. It’s what happened when Rajiv with a staggering majority in parliament lost his mandate to govern. Rats alone don’t leap off a sinking ship. So do everyone else.

So even though Singh, like Pontius Pilate, may wash his hands off every scam that hits the headlines, the fact is: The longer this Government stays, the more compromised the Congress will be, and the less capable of coming back to power. You can’t allow the sovereignty of a nation to be compromised just to win a confidence vote. You can’t bribe MPs to get your way in parliament. You can’t allow a shady hotelier, with CBI cases against him, to play roving diplomat and, worse, give him a Padma Bhushan for it. You can’t appoint a tainted bureaucrat as the nation’s CVC. You can’t file a FIR against a corrupt CM and then allow him to melt away. You can’t let the prime witness to the nation’s biggest scam, who offered to turn approver, be murdered in broad daylight and pretend it’s a suicide.

If this is the best this Government can do, it’s time to step down.

What could be the best to stop this ?
Why the Congress is so keen to allied with DMK ?
How DMK is promising a Laptop to all ( with whose money they are buying ?
People should think , think and think . Be selective to vote to power and save state, country . This may the last chance to elect a good party to be in power, failing we people have no right to claim any thing, because we are not right .

Suggest: Relay fasts by Religious Leaders to sustain anti-corruption movement

Revolution – Final Goal of Baba’s Fast and How can that be achieved:

By Nimesh Dikshit

Recent news is Sri Sri is in Hardwar, asking Baba and his followers to break the fast. I also heard that he even announced from England that Baba should not do fasting. Well I do agree with Sri Sri in that too – that only Baba’s fast is not going to change the heart or break the knees of Congress Party. Instead Congress Party will help purchase ticket to heaven for Baba at tax payer’s money. Now its too late in the game to retreat. The War has been declared and Hindus will have to fight it to save Mother India. The Swayamsevaks of Mother India must retaliate peacefully against the state power unleashed by an Italian Congress and Sonia Sevaks.
But now the war has been declared. Baba went on peaceful fast and police brutality that followed, was a clear Jihad started by Italian Congress Party. Now they are not going to go back foot. Their only agenda will be to destroy Baba completely, by hook or by crook. The person who has such a big empire – its very easy for IT guys to find problems. Each problem will be magnified by the Media which is on the payroll of congress party. That is their job – and they will do it well. The fact that they could change the mind of a Yogi like Sri Sri Ravishankar is good enough to understand the power of Media. Any retreat at this point is a death of any future agitation against this government and that can not be allowed. Its too late.

What someone should advice Sri Sri instead ? What should Sri Sri really do? How this movement can be made long lasting movement? Its true that this movement is premature in the sense that next Lok Sabha election is in 2014 and Congress knows very well that people will forget the police brutality on the innocent, peaceful, Hindus who were fasting for the whole day. Congress also knows that neither Baba nor his followers can sustain 3 year long campaign by fasting. So then how can this movement drag on for next 2-3 years and gather force and awaken Hindus? To answer that, I would like to put forward a little observation of the problem of Hindu Society. The reason I use the word Hindu is only Hindus care for Hindustan others have their affiliation somewhere else.

Problem of Hindu Society lies in the multi sect philosophy all of which ultimately concur to Vedic Principles. This is a Strength of Hindu Society but at the same time that divides the society many folds. Coupled with that the greed and possessive nature of Human Being from which these Sadhus and Sants are not liberated. They suffer with the attachment to their capital, both financial and human. They will not like to have joint programs with other Sadhus or allow their followers’ kids to mingle with the children of other Sadhus’ followers. I have personal experience of this weird behavior of Sadhus. Any follower goes to other Sadhu or Teacher is looked upon as a blow to his/her bottom line. Most religio-spritual organizations suffer with this human nature. That’s why Guru ji of Sangh, started an organization called VHP – whose sole work is to unite these separate sects and bring them on one platform. Sangh is a non religo-spiritual organization so it does not have direct competition with them and with its large following of sincere swayamsevaks makes the best organization for facilitating this platform. Despite that non competing nature of VHP, it still has this uphill battle for last 46 years, and has found some success, which is of help only for particular occasions – and then they go their merry way without caring for each other’s organization.

Here I feel Baba’s agitation can unite these separate sects if the heads of these sects remove their possessive nature out of their soul and mind. Sri Sri who I know for sure is not the one who possess this nature, must be made aware of this grand possibility of Hindu Revival by creating unstoppable Chain Reaction. How? Sri Sri who is so well accepted across the society and who has following worldwide – instead of asking Baba to stop the fast, should have joined the fast when Baba is in Hospital. He should have asked Baba and his followers to stop fast and started fast of his own, replacing Baba,  on the same platform where Baba was doing the fast  Not only that he should have asked his followers worldwide to go on token fasts. All black, white, brown and yellow skinned people would have observed fast worldwide and at 24 hour notice. I know personally, and have visited Sri Sri’s camps many times, to say confidently that just like Baba’s followers thousands of followers of Sri Sri would have joined another week long fast. Baba would have been out of the fast, but Congress would not feel the victory – since other 100,000 plus people would be fasting for the following week. In meantime some other guru, shankaracharyas or teachers would go to Patanjali Vidyapeeth and join the fast and Sri Sri and his Followers would  break the fast. These could have created a chain reaction. And followers of all Hindu sects, gurus, swamis, acharyas would have united under one cause to free Mother India from the shackles of the falsehood. This does not have to all happen in onlyHardwar, such fasting should go on in all temples, maths and other spiritual places. While motherIndiais an abode of 1000s of gurus and swamis – only 108 swamis are needed to continue this agitation for two years. Once the mala, whose beads are each of these gurus – who went on a weeklong fast is completed, these gurus should go all out on road and Congress would lose its sleep for the next election. They will not be able to bring back the black money – otherwise Sonia would have no other option but to RUN and Run fast, so that they will have to choose a defeat instead. Or they have to declare the emergency like in seventies – there by creating the ultimate blow to Congress Party and its 60 years old regime. And this will not be a civil agitation without any spirituality as in 1970s but the one guided and lead by spiritual and traditionally Hindu Sanskriti. After two years a modest, honest, visionary leader who does not have any ties that can spoil his image or make him to hesitate from taking the harsh decision should be declared as a next PM candidate from any party of their choice. And all gurus, sadhus and swamis should put their force behind that person. That way all the Hindus will unite. If 25% of the block Hindu vote bank can be created – there is no stopping for a Hindu Party to win the next election. And the goal to bring back black money, making of laws that put the politicians, businessmen and media moghuls behind bars can be achieved by a stroke of a pen.

But alas, we at this point do not have any sadhu who would join Baba in his fight against Corruption. Since they will feel following the leadership of Baba Ramdev. Instead they would want to look wiser then Baba by asking Baba to stop fast, without thinking how can he do that? And that is the Irony of Sadhu Society that there is no neutral group that can accept this as a solution and bring Baba out of his fast without letting Congress celebrate their victory over Baba’s crusade against Corruption. Also another bright side of this is – it will not require Baba to prepare a protective force. But who will take the lead to tell Sri Sri to go on fast and relieve Baba from his Dharana and still feel victorious.  So that Mother India can be ushered back into Her Past Glory. That is the Need of the Hour.

Attempts yet again to block Amarnath Yatra

PRESS STATEMENT OF VISHVA HINDU PARISHAD INTERNATIONAL SECRETARY GENERAL DR. PRAVIN BHAI TOGADIYA

Attempts yet again to block Amarnath Yatra

The Amarnath Yatra, as every year, would initiate only on Jyeshth

Shukla Purnima, June 15

May 25, 2011,New Delhi – Once again having decided to bar the Amarnath Yatra under signals from the Pakistani separatists ofKashmir, backer of the separatists Mr. Mufti Mohammad Saeed and the central government submissive to the dictates of the separatists, the Jammu & Kashmir Governor Sri Narinder Nath Vohra has humiliated the Dharmic-patriotic sentiments of the Hindus of the country.

For the last several years the Amarnath Yatra has been conducted for two months at a stretch starting from the full-moon day of the bright fortnight of the month of Jyeshtha to the full-moon day of the month of Shraavan. The ice Shivalingam (sign of Shiva – the auspicious one) attains its utmost dimensions on the day of Jyestha Purnima, and after this it gradually starts melting and by Shraavani Purnima it gets melted considerably. On the day of Jyestha Purnima, the macro size ice Shivalingam is there for the devotees to have its Darshan.

The Yatra continues for two months from Jyestha Purnima to Shravani Purnima that attracts about 400,000 pilgrims to Jammu & Kashmir from all over the country and abroad. They gain in spiritual merits by the Darshan, internalize the divine blessings and return with high spirits. The Yatra is very much a spirituo-patriotic pilgrimage and mountain adventure. It strengthens national unity and territorial integrity and there is ample opportunity for much economic activity and income generation for the local populace and the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

For some years now the Pakistani separatists ofKashmirhave been making attempts so that this spirituo-nationalist Yatra discontinues for all times to come for obvious reasons. The terrorists had threatened to jeopardize the Yatra in 1995 and this year also they have issued threats. Once they had even mounted an attack on the Yatra. By mounting a violent movement last year, the separatists of Kashmir had forced the state government to take back the midway Yatra camp land that hosted the pilgrims which the people of Jammu got back for the pilgrims by long-drawn counter movement. Now again under motions from separatists, their supporter Mufti Mohammad Saeed and the central government the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir has opposed the commencement of the Yatra on Jyestha Shukla Purnima, i.e., falling on June 15, 2011 this year, and declared its commencement from June 29, 2011. Paying deaf ears to the suggestions of the Sant fraternity ofJammuand the whole country and the Hindu organizations to start the Yatra on June 15, 2011, he has instead submitted to the pressure tactics of the separatists.

The two-month-long Yatra mobilizes people from all nooks & corners of the country thereby strengthening national unity. It enhances economic development and job opportunities for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Is the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir against national unity? Is he against enhancement in job opportunities in the state? Is he against economic development of the state? Does he carry a brief for the Pakistani separatists and carry their agenda? The Dharmic and Social organizations of Jammu and the whole country and all commercial organizations ofJammuhave taken a collective decision that like every year the Amarnath Yatra would be commenced from Jyestha Purnima June 15, 2011.

When the prominent citizens of Jammu & Kashmir called on the Chief Minister, he assured them that the Yatra for two months from 15 June would be provided with security cover. On June 15, 2011. the Yatra would be flagged off by Jagadguru Sankaracharya HH Vasudevananda Saraswatiji and former supercop Sardar K.P.S. Gill.

The people of the country are urged upon to assert their Dharmic rights by joining the Yatra from June 15 and have Darshan of Baba Amnarnath. The Jammu & Kashmir Governor is hereby given a clear warning that if he ever tries to bar the two-month long Yatra or create hurdles in its infrastructural arrangements and the streamlining processes, he will have to face with stiff resistance and reaction from the whole country the consequences of which will squarely fall on the Governor who seems to function under pointers received from anti-Hindu elements and separatists.

Loot of Hindu Temples by Secular Governments: Foreign writer opens our eyes

Foreign writer opens our eyes: Loot of Hindu Temples by Secular Governments

Nescit Ceder

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Act of 1951 allows State Governments and politicians to take over thousands of Hindu Temples and maintain complete control over them and their properties. It is claimed that they can sell the temple assets and properties and use the money in any way they choose A charge has been made not by any Temple authority, but by a foreign writer, Stephen Knapp in a book (Crimes Against India and the Need to Protect Ancient Vedic Tradition) published in the United States that makes shocking reading.
Hundreds of temples in centuries past have been built inIndia by devout rulers and the donations given to them by devotees have been used for the benefit of the (other) people. If, presently, money collected has ever been misused (and that word needs to be defined), it is for the devotees to protest and not for any government to interfere. This latter is what has been happening currently under an intrusive law.

It would seem, for instance, that under a Temple Empowerment Act, about 43,000 temples in Andhra Pradesh have come under government control and only 18 per cent of the revenue of these temples have been returned for temple purposes, the remaining 82 per cent being used for purposes unstated.

Apparently even the world famous TirumalaTirupati Temple has not been spared. According to Knapp, the temple collects over Rs 3,100 crores every year and the State Government has not denied the charge that as much as 85 per cent of this is transferred to the State Exchequer, much of which goes to causes that are not connected with the Hindu community. Is it for this that devotees make their offering to the temples? Another charge that has been made is that the Andhra Government has also allowed the demolition of at least ten temples for the construction of a golf course. Imagine the outcry writes Knapp, if ten mosques had been demolished.

It would seem that in Karanataka, Rs. 79 crores were collected from about two lakh temples and from that, temples received Rs seven crores for their maintenance, Muslim madresas and Haj subsidy were given Rs 59 crores and churches about Rs 13 crores. Very generous of the government.

Because of this, Knapp writes, 25 per cent of the two lakh temples or about 50,000 temples in Karnataka will be closed down for lack of resources, and he adds: The only way the government can continue to do this is because people have not stood up enough to stop it.

Knapp then refers to Kerala where, he says, funds from the Guruvayur Temple are diverted to other government projects denying improvement to 45 Hindu temples. Land belonging to the Ayyappa Temple, apparently has been grabbed and Church encroaches are occupying huge areas of forest land, running into thousands of acres, near Sabarimala.

A charge is made that the Communist state government of Kerala. wants to pass an Ordinance to disband the Travancore & Cochin Autonomous Devaswom Boards (TCDBs) and take over their limited independent authority of 1,800 Hindu temples. If what the author says is true, even the Maharashtra Government wants to take over some 450,000 temples in the state which would supply a huge amount of revenue to correct the states bankrupt conditions.

And to top it all, Knapp says that in Orissa, the state government intends to sell over 70,000 acres of endowment lands from the Jagannath Temple, the proceeds of which would solve a huge financial crunch brought about by its own mismanagement of temple assets.

Says Knapp: Why such occurrences are so often not known is that the Indian media, especially the English television and press, are often anti-Hindu in their approach, and thus not inclined to give much coverage, and certainly no sympathy, for anything that may affect the Hindu community. Therefore, such government actions that play against the Hindu community go on without much or any attention attracted to them.

Knapp obviously is on record. If the facts produced by him are incorrect, it is up to the government to say so. It is quite possible that some individuals might have set up temples to deal with lucrative earnings. But that, surely, is none of the governments business? Instead of taking over all earnings, the government surely can appoint local committees to look into temple affairs so that the amount discovered is fairly used for the public good?

Says Knapp: Nowhere in the free, democratic world are the religious institutions managed, maligned and controlled by the government, thus denying the religious freedom of the people of the country. But it is happening in India. Government officials have taken control of Hindu temples because they smell money in them, they recognize the indifference of Hindus, they are aware of the unlimited patience and tolerance of Hindus, they also know that it is not in the blood of Hindus to go to the streets to demonstrate, destroy property, threaten, loot, harm and kill Many Hindus are sitting and watching the demise of their culture. They need to express their views loud and clear Knapp obviously does not know that should they do so, they would be damned as communalists. But it is time some one asked the Government to lay down all the facts on the table so that the public would know what is happening behind its back. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not secularism. And temples are not for looting, under any name. One thought that Mohammad of Ghazni has long been dead.
