Kasab’s Birthday Gift to us- Mumbai Blasts

July 13 was the 24th birthday of Ajmal Kasab who has been given death sentence by a Mumbai  Court for the massacre and mayhem in Mumbai on November 26, 2008.

Congress, ever mindful of Muslim votes cannot even think about hanging him, national pride, security and sanctity of the Supreme Court be damned.

Congress, under Sonia Gandhi cannot even think of hanging Afzal Guru, convicted for his part in the parliament Bombing in December 2001.  In 2004, the Supreme Court ordered that Afzal Guru be hanged. The execution was to be carried out on October 20, 2006.  Almost five years later, Afzal is very much alive costing the tax payers a pretty penny, thanks to Sonia Gandhi who rules her party and the nation with an iron fist hidden in a velvet glove.

So far the Government of Bharat has spent 310 million Rupees to keep Kasab alive. So, to thank the Congress led government, Ajmal Kasab’s handlers decided to give a memorable gift to people of Bharat.

Yesterday, on July 13, they offered bomb blasts during rush hour in three crowded locations  in Mumbai. 21 are dead and 141 are injured; some more may succumb to their injuries.

These numbers that we hear have become  routine and do not mean a thing unless one of them is your father/mother/brother/sister/husband/wife/uncle/cousin/friend. Numbers do not matter unless it is your leg or hand that has been blown to bits or it is your eye that is pierced by sharpnels. These numbers have no meaning unless it is your loved one whose body is set on fire by the blast.

The politicians who are principally responsible for this day because of their spaghetti spines when it comes to taking action against any Muslim, will mouth stupid inanities. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a.k.a. captain sleeping at the wheel while the country is plundered and looted by his coalition Dharma partners, President Pratibha Patil, ever indebted to Sonia Gandhi for putting  her in  a place where no one can touch her for all the cooperative bank scams she was involved in- in Maharashtra, Sonia Gandhi, the Vishkanya, i.e., kiss of death for mother Bharat, Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, virtually a nincompoop dancing to His Master’s Voice from 10 Janpath, the home Minister, P.C. Chidambaram, who is too busy to find ways to stay out of Tihar jail with the noose getting closer by the day in 2G scam,  all these characters have come out with statements condemning the blasts and at the same time advising the hapless people to stay calm.

You know what? They are good at making these utterly useless statements because they have had repeated practice of making them in last few years. Friends, their words mean nothing, They do not give a hoot whether 21 or 2100 die in these blasts so long as their ill gotten billions are safe in Switzerland.

Solution? Let there be no more birthdays for Kasab. Create a nationwide pressure, such a pressure that the government would be either forced to hang Kasab and Afzal or would be shown the door.  Let us vow to give Kasab gift of hangman’s noose on his next birthday, July 13, 2012.

Can it be done? Yes. If Egypt can do it, Algeria can do it, Yemen can do it, Libya and Syria are about to do it, why can’t we?  History favors those, who seize the initiative.

Let us not wait for another blast.

Obsession over Casey Anthony case is unproductive — try helping the living children still in need

A very thought provoking article. Amidst all the hoopla and emotional outbursts about Casey Anthony case, the writer suggest ways to harness all the energy for a better future for neglected adn abused children who are still living.- The moderator

Casey Anthony is expected to get out of jail this weekend.

If so, the news will once again energize the cult of Casey.

These are the people whose prime source of entertainment for the past three years has been the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Caylee’s  death did wonders for Nancy Grace‘s ratings. But it’s the legions of Americans who provide those ratings I find most troubling.

They voraciously consume everything about the case. They busy themselves writing missives on Facebook. Some even took their summer vacation at the Orange County Courthouse.

Just imagine if America had channeled its energy into something productive … something more than trage-tainment.

Three years ago, when this case first started, I suggested readers do just that — that they volunteer, for example, with one of the many nonprofits that helps toddlers whoaren’t dead.

I suggested if they want to yell and scream, they should do so on behalf of the millions of neglected children who lack a voice.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton suggested the same thing last week when he saw the rage building after the verdict.

“Everybody needs to turn the energy that they have into something positive,” Ashton said on CNN. “If you want to do something to honor Caylee, then do something to help other children.”

I wonder how many will.

Making a difference, after all, takes more work. And while it can be fulfilling, it’s usually less titillating.

You may remember that interest in the Anthony case took off after the media got hold of pictures showing Casey drunk, dancing in a tight dress and partying with her cleavage exposed.

Nancy Grace couldn’t show the pictures enough, her on-screen headlines screaming: “MORE NEW PICS OF TOT MOM ALLEGED SEXY PARTYING!”

The public ate it up. By the time the case went to trial, the American media was all Casey all the time. That most certainly included my newspaper, which set records with the millions of new visitors at OrlandoSentinel.com during the trial.

One can only imagine what would happen if the same kind of media resources and manpower were ever focused on all the problems and crises affecting the children who are still alive.

We live in a state infamous for short-changing children. We have one of the highest child-abuse rates in the country. We have more uninsured children than 48 other states. Our graduation rates lag.

But stories about such things don’t make ratings spike. Because you don’t watch them.

Sure, I know the Anthony case was compelling. I get that.

But so is the plight of so many children living in our own backyard — kids who have been beaten by their parents, left to rummage for food from trash cans and found living in sheds.

We’ve written stories about all of those things. How many of those did you share with all your Facebook friends?

Want to redirect some of your Casey energy?

•If children are your concern, think about helping one of the many great nonprofits that protect and even shelter at-risk children. There are dozens, ranging from Harbor House of Central Florida (harborhousefl.com) to the Children’s Home Society of Florida (chsfl.org). The last time I visited the Children’s Home Society’s crisis nursery, I saw a 2-year-old whose father had broken her leg, and a neglected brother and sister who arrived wearing the only clothes they possessed.

•If seeing “justice served” was supposedly your main interest in the case, you can actually make a difference on that front as well. Locally, you can follow CourtWatch (courtwatchflorida.org), which keeps tabs on cases of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assaults and more. Dedicated advocates like director Laura Williams watch out for repeat and violent offenders seeking leniency from the courts.

•And if you’re all about expressing outrage to politicians, save your energy on the Casey case. These guys are already elbowing one another to get in front of cameras to tout “Caylee’s law.” Instead, ask your elected officials to do more for the kids who are still with us. Every child should be protected from violence, have access to health care and receive a good education. In an ideal world, all parents would ensure that. Our world is far from ideal.

I have to warn you: There’s no cleavage involved in any of the activities above. Nancy Grace won’t be screaming about them on TV.

But you will make a difference.

Give Bail to Kanimozi and Raja- Jaswant Singh Really?

Dear Sir
Please publish the following in your esteemed daily:

JASWANT FIT FOR NIMHANS
———————————————————-

A pick-pocket if he is caught,  is thrashed in such a way that sometimes, he dies of injuries. And he is hand-cuffed and jailed.  The amount involved may be small.  But still crime is a crime.

Raja and Kanimozhi and co. had looted India – depriving the poor and the downtrodden of many essential things in life.  Instead of coming down heavily on corruption and corrupt practices, Jaswant wants the judiciary to be soft on Kanimozhi and Raja.  I think, there is some quid pro quo.  In fact, neither Jaswant nor the BJP is taking anything seriously.

They, along with cogress buried the Bofors.  They along with congress ignored the massacre and ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Kashmir. In fact,Subramanian Swamy and a couple of newspapers – like TNIE, Pioneer,Deccan chronicle. etc, keep the issue alive for logical conclusion.

Advani,Sushma,Gadkari and the supreme court Lawyer, Jaitley – all are behaving like clowns. They have never fought a single issue to the logical end.

Inspite of huge scams, congress is running the government as if nothing has happened.
Why?  Because, the BJP as opposition is useless.  Now people begin to wonder whether BJP may be having skeletons in their cupboards – hence, the quid pro quo.  If this situation continues, BJP may be decimated in the next elections.

Jaswant is a shame on BJP and BJP is a shame on India.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely

Anti-Modi party of dissident BJPers about to bit dust in Gujarat

Count down of MahaGujarat Janata Party begins
Ahmedabad, 11 July, 2011

It seems the MahaGujarat Janata Party formed by former BJP minister Gordhan Zadafia is on the verge of finishing.

After one of the founders Balubhai Tanti rejoined BJP last week and other founder Sunil Oza resigned from the party, now another important MJP leader Arvind Rana has also left the party.

Rana is former Councillor of Surat. He was MJP’s Surat city unit President and main supporter of Fakirbhai Chauhan, prominent face of MJP in Surat.

Gordhan Zadafia, a loyalist of Keshubhai Patel and Pravin Togadia was offered ministry birth by Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Zadafia remained present in oath taking ceremony but refused to go on stage and accept the ministry when his name was announced. Zadafia was slapped notice by the party. Later he formed MahaGujarat Janata Party along with some other BJP disidents.

MJP has not been able to make its mark in Gujarat’s mainstream political arena so far. The party has not been able to cut BJP’s vote share. Its founder person Zadafia lost Lok Sabha election. The party has not been able to win a single assembly seat in any by-election. The party lost badly in civic and district panchayat polls.

Sources told DeshGujarat that without any notable victory and sufficient amount of fund, it is now difficult to sustain.

It is interesting to note that in Gujarat’s politics, the third party has hardly survived. Be it late Chimanbhai Patel’s Kisan Majdoor Lok Paksha or Shankarsinh Vaghela’s MahaGujarat Janata Party, no third political party has been successful to win the people.

Maniben’s diary reopens Sardar’s rift with Nehru

July 12, 2011   12:31:48 AM

Rathin Das | Ahmedabad

The Congress had always sought to underplay the differences between Nehru and ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Patel whose legacy gradually diminished with increasing stranglehold of one family in the party since Independence.

But, excerpts from the diary of Sardar Patel’s daughter Maniben would not only confirm the differences but also are likely to ruffle the feathers of present day Congress leaders with embarrassing disclosures therein.

For many of the entries jotted down in Maniben’s diary, being published in full for the first time, would bring out unpleasant truths that may prove to be uncomfortable to the Congress leaders.

One of the Nehru-Sardar differences was regarding the renovation of the Babri Masjid at Government expense, a proposal the ‘Iron Man’ had turned down as free India’s first Home Minister.

The entry in Maniben’s diary on September 20, 1950 says that Sardar told Nehru that the Babri Masjid’s renovation was different from reconstruction of the Somnath Temple for which a trust was set up that raised nearly `30 lakh for the purpose. Government money was not spent on reconstruction of the Somnath Temple, Sardar told Nehru following which the Prime Minister kept quiet, Maniben’s diary notes on September 20, 1950.

As Sardar Patel’s wife Zaverba died very early, Maniben had taken up the multiple roles as daughter, secretary, washerwoman and nurse to the ‘Iron Man’ till his death on December 12, 1950. Since 1936, Maniben had started maintaining a diary in which she recorded her illustrious father’s daily events and comments.

The 24 volumes of Maniben’s diaries are safely kept at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial here, a heritage building whose renovation is currently underway. Ironically, the complete diary of Maniben is being published by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Society whose chairman is a Congressman, Union Minister for Mines Dinsha Patel.

The diary contents would be first published in original Gujarati, the society’s secretary Prabhakar Khamar told The Pioneer. It would take about six months for them to come into print, he said, adding that later on the Hindi translation would also be brought out.

Khamar disclosed that Maniben’s diary deals with differences and controversies between top leaders of freedom struggle like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and others.

“These differences did not come out into public then as all leaders had agreed with Gandhiji’s views as final,” said 80-year-old Prabhakar Khamar.

The contents of the diary which are going into print also throw some rare insight about other personalities’ comments on Nehru’s ‘secular’ image.

Nehru’s close friend Sriprakash told Sardar “there was no trace of Hindutva in Motilal Nehru. He was three-quarters Englishman and one quarter Muslim. How can you expect any Hindutva in his son?” Maniben’s diary notes on October 12, 1950.

Another entry, on September 13, 1950, quotes Ghanshyamdas Birla as saying “Nehru’s whole family would have embraced Islam is they had not come in contact with Gandhiji.”

With revelations like this, Maniben’s diary is sure to raise a storm once again regarding Nehru legacy.

Muslims who repaired Rath during Rathyatra honored

Ahmedabad, 11 July, 2011

The Muslims who had voluntarily welded broken hook of wooden Rath during Ahmedabad’s annual Rath Yatra in Muslim dominated Dariapur area were honored by Ahmedabad Police on Monday.

Police Commissioner Shri Sudhir Sinha honored Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Asif, Ahmed Hussain and Shahid on Sunday at Dariapur police station in a function. They were given certificates of appreciation.

It should be mentioned that Ahmedabad’s Rath Yatra passes through about half a dozen Muslim dominated areas on the route.

This year like past many years, the Muslims overwhelmingly welcomed Rath Yatra, they volunteered by setting up stalls to offer free water and sweet drink. They welcomed Jagannath Mandir’s Mahant in groups, took prashad and also repaired a hook of the Rath when Rath yatra had to be halted due to broken hook of wooden Rath.

High Court’s go-ahead for probe into doctored affidavits of Teesta Setalvad

HC’s go-ahead for probe into doctored affidavits of Teesta
Ahmedabad, 11 July, 2011

Teesta with husband Javed

The Gujarat High Court Monday gave the go-ahead to police investigation into filing of ‘doctored’affidavits by controversial NGO operator Teesta (Javed) Setalvad on behalf of victims of the 2002riots before various courts.

A single judge bench of Justice M.R. Shah rejected a petition filed by the registrar of a sessions court challenging the order of a magisterial court, which entrusted a probe against former aide of Teesta Setalvad, Rais Khan, and others, to the police.

Khan, formerly associated with Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), had confessed before the various forums and court that he and Setalwad had fabricated affidavits and statements of the riot victims and submitted them before the lower courts and Supreme Court.

Taking cognizance of these, designated judge of Naroda Gam massacre case, S.H. Vora, had asked the registrar of the city civil and sessions court to file a complaint before the magisterial court against Khan and others.

A metropolitan magistrate had subsequently directed the police to probe the case and file a report in 30 days.

However, the registrar sought the high court’s intervention on this, by terming proceedings initiated by the magistrate as ‘erroneous’.

Justice Shah accepted special public prosecutor J.M. Panchal’s arguments.

Panchal, who appeared for the state, had submitted that the magistrate’s order was just, proper and legal.

He submitted that the magistrate had the jurisdiction to order the investigation.

Khan had claimed that the false affidavits of those witnesses and many other victims of the 2002 riot cases were prepared at behest of Setalvad to get the trial shifted outside Gujarat.

He requested the court to summon him as a witness under provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure to prove that the witnesses had falsely implicated him and had lied before the court.
