Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, wife of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, on Monday approached the AP High Court seeking a CBI probe into the wealth of Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu, which she said he had amassed illegally when he was Chief Minister.
Vijayalakshmi, the mother of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleged in her affidavit that Mr Naidu, who came from a lower middle class farmer’s family, had minted money by misusing his power as Chief Minister.
Several Telugu Desam leaders had moved the High Court seeking CBI probe into the assets of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy. The court had clubbed these pleas with a taken-up petition of Congress MLA Dr P. Shankar Rao and ordered a CBI probe into his assets, which is going on.
The affidavit ran into 86 pages and Vijayalaks-hmi submitted material papers and documents totalling 2,300 pages in different volumes.
Stating that she was prepared to pay exemplary costs if her allegations were disproved, Vijayalakshmi said that Mr Naidu and his top aides had committed offences in violation of various laws including the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Indian Penal Code, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Foreign Exchange Mainte-nance Act, the Represen-tation of People Act, the AP Land Grabbing Act and Benami Transaction (Prohibition) Act.
As respondents to her plea she named Naidu, his wife Bhuvaneswari, son Lokesh, media baron Ch. Ramoji Rao, Ushodaya Enterprises Private Limi-ted, Heritage Foods (India) Limited.
Also named in the petition were Ahobila Rao alias Billy Rao of IMG Bharata, V. Nagaraja Naidu (a distant relative of Naidu), Yelamanchili Satyanarayana Chow-dhary alias Sujana Chow-dhary and Madhucon Sugar and Power Industries Limited owned by TD MP Nama Nageswara Rao.
So Hindus (and Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists) are still gullible. They consider it a privilege and status symbol to be invited by the Pope. This is akin to a lion (actually a cunning fox in this case) inviting a lamb for the dinner where the lamb does not know that it is the main course!
Remember the Pancatantra story of the monkey who was being lured by the crocodile to satisfy his wife’s craving for a monkey liver? of course, he was smarter than current crop of Hindu leaders.
I would love to see names of these Hindu “leaders” so that we can expose and shame them.

London: Over 200 spiritual leaders, including Hindus, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists, will attend a multi-faith meeting being hosted by Pope Benedict XVI on 27 October in Vatican to promote world peace.
Pope Benedict XVI is hosting the multi-faith meeting in favour of world peace, which was started by his predecessor Pope John Paul II, the Vatican said in a statement today. The spiritual leaders invited are from Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs, Confucianists, Baha’i, Jains, Jews, Taoists and Zoroastrians, it said.
Among the Hindu invitees are Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Rajmohan Gandhi, who has already participated in an earlier meeting. Three Jains, five Sikhs and 67 Buddhists leaders are in the list of invitees.
Around 70 Muslim leaders, including from Iran and Saudi Arabia, will also be present on the occasion, said Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, chief of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
The meeting would call for “a common path” to peace, he said, adding the participants will pray in silence during a short procession to the basilica of Assisi and in separate rooms after the ceremony. However, the Grand Imam of the Egypt-based influential Al-Azhar mosque has called for a boycott of the conference since the pope expressed solidarity with Egyptian Copts following a New Year’s bomb attack on them.
The event will also mark the 25th anniversary of the historic multi-faith meeting held in Assisi on 27 October 1986 by Pope John Paul II.

The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Kochi on Tuesday ordered deportation of US evangelist William Arthur Lee for holding religious preaching sessions in the name of musical programmes in Kerala in violation of visa norms. The police said Lee could be deported on Wednesday itself.
The court also sentenced him to three days’ imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. Lee, who had gone into hiding on the night of October 12 during a police inspection at the venue of his religious programme in Kochi, was arrested on Friday night from a five-star hotel. The court had on Saturday remanded him in custody till Tuesday.
After the court issued the verdict, Lee, who had entered India on September 21 on a tourist visa that was valid till March 20, 2012, was handed over to the Sub-Inspector of the Palarivattom police station in Kochi. Police sources said the US pastor could be deported on Wednesday itself once the District Collector completed the formalities.
Lee was arrested over 48 hours after he went missing from the venue of Musical Splash 2011, a religious propagation programme organized as a musical event at Jawaharlal International Stadium in Kaloor, Kochi on October 12. He had gone into hiding when the police reached the venue to ask him to leave the country immediately.
Lee, who had gone missing along with evangelist-musician Ron Kenoly and a woman associate, was blacklisted after the October 12 incident. The police had issued lookout notices for his detention to all airports in the country. They had also been searching for the leaders of Faith Leaders Church of God, who had brought them to Kerala and had organized the event.
The police had tried to detain Lee and to deport him back to the US on the basis of Intelligence reports that he and his associates, who had come to India on tourist visas, were indulging in evangelical activities in various parts of the State.
Intelligence officials had learned that William Lee had held musical conventions for religious propagation at Kunnamkulam in Thrissur district on October 7, 8 and 9. Like other Faith Leaders programmes, Musical Splash 2011 in Kochi was planned as a three-day event to popularize their school of Christianity through “Gospel Music Pageantry”.
