Clemency petition of Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan turned down, to face death sentence.
President Pratibha Patil has rejected the clemency petitions of three killers of Rajiv Gandhi whose death sentences were confirmed by the Supreme Court in 2000.
The apex court had sentenced members of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) Murugan, Santhan, Perarivalan and Nalini to death in 1999 for the assassination of the former Prime Minister in Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991.
A Rasthrapati Bhavan spokesperson said the clemency petitions of all three accused were turned down by the President last week.
The apex court had confirmed the death sentence of Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan while commuting Nalini’s sentence to life imprisonment.
The trio, charged with criminal conspiracy and execution of the suicide attack plot, had filed mercy petition before the President after confirmation of sentence by the apex court.
The Home Ministry had sent its opinion on June 21, 2005 which was called back for review on February 23, 2011 and was re-submitted to the President on March 8 this year.
Earlier, in May, the President had rejected mercy petitions of Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar of Punjab and Mahendra Nath Das of Assam following the recommendations from the Union Home Ministry.
Bhullar was sentenced to death by a trial court on August 25, 2001, for plotting terror attacks on Punjab SSP Sumedh Singh Saini in 1991 and the then Youth Congress president M S Bitta in 1993. Das was found guilty of murdering one Hara Kanta Das.
July 13 was the 24th birthday of Ajmal Kasab who has been given death sentence by a Mumbai Court for the massacre and mayhem in Mumbai on November 26, 2008.
Congress, ever mindful of Muslim votes cannot even think about hanging him, national pride, security and sanctity of the Supreme Court be damned.
Congress, under Sonia Gandhi cannot even think of hanging Afzal Guru, convicted for his part in the parliament Bombing in December 2001. In 2004, the Supreme Court ordered that Afzal Guru be hanged. The execution was to be carried out on October 20, 2006. Almost five years later, Afzal is very much alive costing the tax payers a pretty penny, thanks to Sonia Gandhi who rules her party and the nation with an iron fist hidden in a velvet glove.
So far the Government of Bharat has spent 310 million Rupees to keep Kasab alive. So, to thank the Congress led government, Ajmal Kasab’s handlers decided to give a memorable gift to people of Bharat.
Yesterday, on July 13, they offered bomb blasts during rush hour in three crowded locations in Mumbai. 21 are dead and 141 are injured; some more may succumb to their injuries.
These numbers that we hear have become routine and do not mean a thing unless one of them is your father/mother/brother/sister/husband/wife/uncle/cousin/friend. Numbers do not matter unless it is your leg or hand that has been blown to bits or it is your eye that is pierced by sharpnels. These numbers have no meaning unless it is your loved one whose body is set on fire by the blast.
The politicians who are principally responsible for this day because of their spaghetti spines when it comes to taking action against any Muslim, will mouth stupid inanities. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a.k.a. captain sleeping at the wheel while the country is plundered and looted by his coalition Dharma partners, President Pratibha Patil, ever indebted to Sonia Gandhi for putting her in a place where no one can touch her for all the cooperative bank scams she was involved in- in Maharashtra, Sonia Gandhi, the Vishkanya, i.e., kiss of death for mother Bharat, Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, virtually a nincompoop dancing to His Master’s Voice from 10 Janpath, the home Minister, P.C. Chidambaram, who is too busy to find ways to stay out of Tihar jail with the noose getting closer by the day in 2G scam, all these characters have come out with statements condemning the blasts and at the same time advising the hapless people to stay calm.
You know what? They are good at making these utterly useless statements because they have had repeated practice of making them in last few years. Friends, their words mean nothing, They do not give a hoot whether 21 or 2100 die in these blasts so long as their ill gotten billions are safe in Switzerland.
Solution? Let there be no more birthdays for Kasab. Create a nationwide pressure, such a pressure that the government would be either forced to hang Kasab and Afzal or would be shown the door. Let us vow to give Kasab gift of hangman’s noose on his next birthday, July 13, 2012.
Can it be done? Yes. If Egypt can do it, Algeria can do it, Yemen can do it, Libya and Syria are about to do it, why can’t we? History favors those, who seize the initiative.
Let us not wait for another blast.

The Congress had always sought to underplay the differences between Nehru and ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Patel whose legacy gradually diminished with increasing stranglehold of one family in the party since Independence.
But, excerpts from the diary of Sardar Patel’s daughter Maniben would not only confirm the differences but also are likely to ruffle the feathers of present day Congress leaders with embarrassing disclosures therein.
For many of the entries jotted down in Maniben’s diary, being published in full for the first time, would bring out unpleasant truths that may prove to be uncomfortable to the Congress leaders.
One of the Nehru-Sardar differences was regarding the renovation of the Babri Masjid at Government expense, a proposal the ‘Iron Man’ had turned down as free India’s first Home Minister.
The entry in Maniben’s diary on September 20, 1950 says that Sardar told Nehru that the Babri Masjid’s renovation was different from reconstruction of the Somnath Temple for which a trust was set up that raised nearly `30 lakh for the purpose. Government money was not spent on reconstruction of the Somnath Temple, Sardar told Nehru following which the Prime Minister kept quiet, Maniben’s diary notes on September 20, 1950.
As Sardar Patel’s wife Zaverba died very early, Maniben had taken up the multiple roles as daughter, secretary, washerwoman and nurse to the ‘Iron Man’ till his death on December 12, 1950. Since 1936, Maniben had started maintaining a diary in which she recorded her illustrious father’s daily events and comments.
The 24 volumes of Maniben’s diaries are safely kept at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial here, a heritage building whose renovation is currently underway. Ironically, the complete diary of Maniben is being published by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Society whose chairman is a Congressman, Union Minister for Mines Dinsha Patel.
The diary contents would be first published in original Gujarati, the society’s secretary Prabhakar Khamar told The Pioneer. It would take about six months for them to come into print, he said, adding that later on the Hindi translation would also be brought out.
Khamar disclosed that Maniben’s diary deals with differences and controversies between top leaders of freedom struggle like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and others.
“These differences did not come out into public then as all leaders had agreed with Gandhiji’s views as final,” said 80-year-old Prabhakar Khamar.
The contents of the diary which are going into print also throw some rare insight about other personalities’ comments on Nehru’s ‘secular’ image.
Nehru’s close friend Sriprakash told Sardar “there was no trace of Hindutva in Motilal Nehru. He was three-quarters Englishman and one quarter Muslim. How can you expect any Hindutva in his son?” Maniben’s diary notes on October 12, 1950.
Another entry, on September 13, 1950, quotes Ghanshyamdas Birla as saying “Nehru’s whole family would have embraced Islam is they had not come in contact with Gandhiji.”
With revelations like this, Maniben’s diary is sure to raise a storm once again regarding Nehru legacy.
According to Lok Sabha web site, Sonia Gandhi is a trustee of Jaliawala Bagh National Memorial Trust.
It seems that she has misunderstood her role. Perhaps, she feels that as a trustee of the “memorial”, she has to repeat Jallianwalla Bagh type atrocities on the Bharatiya people from time to time, so that the “memory” remains alive! May be that is why she ordered that infampus attack on Baba Ramdev and his followers on the night of June 4-5.
Jallianwala was perpetrated in 1919 by a foreigner drunk mad with absolute power. Almost 100 years later, history was repeated.
