Game Plan- Create Dissention in each Group that Voted for Modi

From WahtsApp by Pankaj Ojha

Why are women not allowed in Shani Temple?Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev

Received from Pradeep Lakhe on a Facebook Comment on Shefali Vaidya’s post

Just cut n pasting message from Sadguru…. You may agree to disagree……..
Questioner: Sadhguru, why are women not being allowed into certain temples? For example, now with the Shani temple. Why this discrimination?

Sadhguru: At Linga Bhairavi, men are not allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum, but they never protest. They are married and domesticated – they have been trained not to protest against anything (laughter).

It needs to be understood that these temples are not places of prayer – they are different types of energies. Since we are aware that the planets in the solar system have an impact upon our physiology, our psychological structure, and the context of our lives, we have created temples for the different planets.

Based on the time and date of your birth, and the latitude and longitude of your place of birth, Indian astrologers make complex calculations to see which planets have the greatest influence on your life. These things are relevant to you to some extent. However, if you have access to inner technology, it will level out these planetary impacts.

Shani or Saturn, which is a faraway planet, takes 30 years to complete one revolution around the sun. Considering the revolutions of Saturn and those of the Earth, and your birth details, they can calculate what impact Saturn has on you at different times of your life.

Shani is one of the sons of Surya, the sun – the other one being Yama. Shani is the lord of dominance, distress, depression, disease, and disaster. Yama is the lord of death – the “D” company. These two are brothers-in-arms, always working in tandem. Their mother, Surya’s wife, is Chaya. Chaya means “shadow.” This is science expressed in a dialectical way. The sun is the source of light for us. His wife is Chaya – shadow. Only because there is sunlight, there is shadow.

The seventh day, Saturday, is the day of Saturn. Seven being Saat, it isSaaturday or Saturday. Saturn is the seventh planet or graha in the Indian astrological system. The word “graha” means “to grasp” or “to impact.” Saturn as per modern astronomy is the sixth planet. But the Indian astrology looked at celestial objects which have a strong impact on life upon this planet. In that context, Sun and Moon are also counted as grahas, not to be understood as planets, making Saturn the seventh graha.

In the order of grahas that have a strong influence upon this planet – Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn – though Shani is the seventh, he is a very dominant force, as health and happiness give you freedom of life, but disease and depression will seriously dominate your life. The question is are you allowing external forces, such as the celestial objects, to influence or impact you, or is your inner nature the only influence upon you. Hence, in this tradition, profound astrologers refused to make predictions for those who are on the spiritual path or under the influence of a spiritual Guru.

Because his is a 30-year cycle, once in 30 years, you become more susceptible to the influence of Saturn. This phase, known as Saade Saati, or in Tamil,Yelarai Shani, lasts for seven and a half years. You may become more susceptible to disease, depression, disasters, and death, and more vulnerable to external influences. In order to bridge the pits that may occur during a Saade Saati, various processes and rituals are associated with Shani temples.

There are temples for Shani Deva, where Saturn is personified as a god. Currently, there is this controversy about allowing women to enter a certain temple in Maharashtra, the Shani Shingnapur temple. Very powerful processes are conducted at this temple. Shani temples are mainly used for occult purposes and exorcism. People come there mainly to ward off occult influences or because they feel they are possessed. Because occult processes are conducted there, the energies are not conducive for women. As a woman is entrusted with the significant responsibility of manufacturing the next generation, her body is far more receptive and vulnerable to certain types of energies – especially during pregnancy and menstrual cycles.

Should women not enter the sanctum at all? They could if they were appropriately trained for it, but it would be much more difficult to train women than men for this purpose, simply because of a few biological advantages men have in this area of life. In the very nature of female biology, occult forces can have a deeper impact upon her system.

To remove occult influences and perform exorcisms, certain energies are used that are not nice for a woman at all. Shani is not nice. But he is a part of our lives – we have to deal with him too. Because of these occult forces, women are asked not to enter the area where such things are done. It would not be good for their physical wellbeing.

When certain things go wrong with life, you have to deal with them in a certain way, which may not be pleasant. These temples were created for this purpose. Today, some people perceive it as discrimination that women should not enter this space. It is not discrimination but discretion.

Maybe the way it is enforced is crude and seems discriminatory, and that is why these women are protesting. If one day, men protest in front of Linga Bhairavi and want to enter the sanctum, I will lock it. I will not let them into sanctum because it is not designed for men unless they are appropriately trained for it. This is not discrimination – it is necessary discretion. The space of Dhyanalinga, for one-half of the lunar cycle, is managed by men; for the other half, it is managed by women – as that is the nature of an inclusive consecration, which Dhyanalinga is.

At certain temples, like the Velliangiri hill temple, women are prevented from going up the mountain, as the path goes through dense forest that was rich in wildlife in the past, and it was considered unsafe for women to take this journey. But today, these rules can be relaxed.

In view of the demand to allow women entry to the Shani temple, we need to educate people about the science behind these temples – what they are about and why they were built. In today’s democratic fervor, we want to establish equality, but in certain contexts, this would work to the disadvantage of women. Otherwise, we are one species and two genders. Except for a few areas such as this one, the only places where gender should matter are bathrooms and bedrooms.

Love & Grace,

Sadhguru

How much is a life worth in India? by Shefali Vaidya

(Our thanks to Shefali Vaidya who posted this on the Facebook)

Warning – Graphic Image

A lot, if you happen to be a Ph.D student and your tragic suicide can be used to malign the Hindus and to further a vicious casteist agenda.

However, if you are just a poor, uneducated Hindu kid of 16, burnt alive by Muslim criminals, your life is not worth the amount of petrol used to turn you into a human torch!

Sawan Dharma Rathod discovered this tragic truth at the cost of his life. He died in Pune around the same time Rohit Vemula committed suicide in Hyderabad.

The death of Sawan Rathod was no accident, nor was it a suicide. Sawan Rathod was burnt alive by three people. According to newspaper reports, their names were Ibrahim Mehboob Shaikh, Zuber Tamboli and Imran Tamboli. As per the newspapers, Zuber Tamboli is a known history-sheeter and has several cases against him, including a charge of attempted murder.

Sawan Rathod

In a video statement recorded in the hospital just before he died, Sawan says his murderers burnt him alive just because he was a Hindu!

I have a copy of this video statement in my possession and believe me, I could not sleep the night I saw the 79 seconds video. According to his lawyer Ramesh Rathod, the police did not record his dying declaration as per procedure.  The video statement has been given to the police by Ramesh Rathod.

Sawan Rathod was a poor boy from the Banjara community. His father works at a brick kiln in Pandharpur. Sawan had come to Pune to seek work, following a fight with his father. As per his dying declaration, Sawan Rathod was allegedly accosted by Zuber Tamboli and his friends at night while he had stopped in a narrow, dark lane in the city to relieve himself. They asked him his name. When he replied ’Sawan Rathod’, they allegedly asked him ‘Are you a Hindu’? Sawan clearly mentions this on the tape. When he turned away, they poured something over him from a can and lit a matchstick. Zuber and his friends then watched Sawan as he screamed for help, tormented by pain as his body was engulfed in flames.

They then put a badly burnt Sawan Rathod in a tempo and abandoned him at an isolated spot on the river bed. Sawan lay there writhing in pain for several hours till some rag-pickers found hims and called the police. He was admitted to the hospital with 75% burns. Sawan Rathod died the next day, consumed by his pain.

The FIR mentions that Sawan was burnt alive by three ‘persons’ who suspected that he was stealing batteries of vehicles on the street, but Sawan’s video statement clearly reveals another angle to the story, a sinister narrative of communal hatred.

Sawan Rathod is gone forever. His life ended before it began at the young age of 16. There will be no TV debates conducted to discuss his murder. There will be no op-eds dedicated to him. No chief minister of Delhi will fly to Pune to meet his parents, no politician will offer his family a flat.

Truth is, no one cares for the cold-blooded murder of Sawan Rathod! The names of his murderers reveal an inconvenient truth; they belong to the ‘right’ faith!

Dear Mr. Shourie (from Gaurang Vaishnav)

Dear Dr. Arun Shourie:

Namaste.  A few days back you came down hard on Modi government. You made an uncharitable remark that “The Modi government believes that managing economy means “managing the headlines” and that people have started recalling the days of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.” I didn’t like it but you are an expert on the subject and I am not, so I swallowed it. You further said, “The way to characterize policies of the government is – Congress plus a cow. Policies are the same.”  http://m.timesofindia.com/india/This-government-is-Congress-plus-a-cow-Arun-Shourie-says/articleshow/49544316.cms?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=TOI

That was a cheap pot shot and insulting to Hindu sensitivities. Yet, I let it ride thinking that even the best of the people lose balance sometimes in anger and say things that they later regret.

People have surmised that you are frustrated because you were not given a ministerial position in the new government, not even a place in the Niti Ayog. I didn’t agree with that assessment. I didn’t think you were that petty and hunkering after name and fame.

Having known your contribution to BJP and your scholarly and philosophical mind, having read your books, I have held you in high regards for decades, so I did not want to label you as another Modi hater just because of that one interview.

Then came another of your interviews with NDTV. It opened my eyes and changed my perception.  I want to pick only a few points from that interview and tell you that Mr. Shourie, you are wrong.

http://www.indiatvnews.com/politics/national/pm-modi-keeping-silent-just-to-win-bihar-elections-arun-shourie-33514.html

(1) “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deliberately maintaining silence on incidents like Dadri lynching while his ministerial and party colleagues kept the issue alive merely to win Bihar elections.”. Maybe he is and that is a prudent way; if you had the good of the country at the heart and didn’t want Congress or its proxy to rear its head again, you would have kept quiet too. And why should he comment? Just because it was a Muslim death? Why did you not mention that he should make a statement also on the murder of Prashant Poojary, a Hindu by Muslims? So you are also falling in media trap of labeling Modiji as a PM of Hindus only.

(2) You cited a Pakistani analyst to say that “while the neighboring country was trying to get out of the pit, India was slowly going down its way.” So now, to you suddenly an analyst from Pakistan carries more weight? And is Pakistan really trying to come out of the pit? It doesn’t look like looking at what they are doing in Kashmir.

(3) You have said “the writers, authors and artists were conscience-keepers of the country and their motives cannot be questioned.”  Ha, ha, ha! So where was their conscience in 1984 Sikh genocide, in 1989 when Pundits in Kashmir were massacred, in 2002 when 58 Hindus were burnt alive at Godhra in a railway coach when Professor Joseph’s hands were cut by the Jehadis in Kerala? So these guys’ motives cannot be questioned but Modi’s can be?

(4) ” Praising scientists like P M Bhargava and Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy, who have expressed concern over these incidents, you questioned how these people can be called rabid, a term used by Arun Jaitley.”  One only needs to do a Google search on Bhargava to see where his ideological loyalties lie.  Bhargava has been supporting AAP from the very beginning and has leftist, pro-Naxal leanings. He is not a neutral, ‘oh, so ever gentle soul.’ Mr. Murthy is a Ford Foundation Trustee. Do we need to know more?

(5) ” These people have contributed immensely to the country and those who attacked them have not read a book in the last 20 years. Those who cannot write two paragraphs are sitting in judgement over writers.”  This is so absurd an argument that it takes the cake. If we were sitting in judgement of their literary work, the argument would make sense; here we are judging their action of Award Vapasi and political motive behind it, which doesn’t require literary skills but common sense.

Your strident support of politically motivated writers and artists’ return of awards makes it crystal clear that in the last innings of your life, you have thrown away your wicket. You are so enamored with your righteousness that you have lost all sense of proportion. Up until now, I thought that Advaniji was the only icon whom I had held in high esteem and who had failed BJP and the nation at the crucial juncture. Now I know that he is in good (!) company.

I am one of 1.25 billion Bharatiyas. Though I happen to reside away from Bharat, my heart beats for Bharat. I blog, twit and use Facebook. I am not a scholar; I have not written incisive books; I have not been a minister; I have not been a darling of think tanks and conclaves; I am not a speaker; hey, I am not even a member of BJP. Yet, I dare say that Shourie Ji you have lost it. All your lifelong contributions have come to a naught because you have decided to become a tool in the hands of Adharma, i.e., in the hands of anti-Modi, anti-Hindu, and to an extent, anti-Bharat media. It is no different than Bhishma or Dronacharya deciding to side with the Kauravas.

Finally, I can write “more than two paragraphs” and I have read 50 or so book in last twenty years.

May you find peace within.

We, the First Generation Hindus owe this to the Second Generation

For my USA Friends:

Namaste. How many times have you said in a discussion that the older generation should give up control and let the younger generation take over? Whether it be a Mandir or a social organization, we always lament that the “old hands” do not give a chance to the younger generation.

Well! Here is a group of second generation Hindu Youths, Hindu Students Council (HSC) that has put tremendous efforts into organizing a Global Dharma Conference, inviting best minds to speak, and top notch artists to perform in a concert that is bound to leave one spellbound.

I have seen these young people working day and night, bent over their laptops, working late night and through the nights, munching on snacks to keep going, making deals and negotiating best prices, contacting organizations and individuals for support and participation. I have seen them putting signs in the middle of the night on Oak Tree Road and other places; I have seen them working out minute details of taking proper care of Swamijis. VIPs and artists, I have seen them grilling Expo Center staff to get all the information and commitment that they need; I have seen them choosing a balanced menu and working hard to get best prices from the food vendors and I have seen them worrying how all bills were going to be paid; I have seen their team spirit, spirit of Seva without worrying about name or fame and I have seen their Can Do attitude in face of indifference and apathy of our generation.

This is a challenge to us, first generation Hindus. If we really want the second generation to take over the mantle from us, we have to make sure that they succeed in this spectacular undertaking. We have to make sure that their financial needs are met. If they run in red, no second generation Hindu organization will dare to do a conference on this scale again. It will be our loss as a Hindu society.

So my earnest request as a first generation Hindu to you is, support Hindu Students Council and its Global Dharma Conference generously. Open your heart and chip in. If you could attend the conference (even a part of it), nothing like that. But even if you cannot, please donate for this worthy cause. Your children will be proud of you. Go to <http://www.dharmaconference.com/> and click on “Donate.”

What is this conference about?

There is a unique opportunity to listen to some of the best minds of India- Spiritual, Yogic, activist, media, political and educational, all under one roof and also enjoy a world class concert featuring top artists from India and Bali. Yes, I am talking about Global Dharma Conference being organized by USA campus based Hindu Students Council which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Please see the attached program schedule to get a feel for variety that this conference offers.

मैं नहीं भूला- I have not forgotten

I am reproducing an email I received (I have added the pictures.) While I am not in the business of wholesale condemnation of a community, when I look at current day ISIS, Taliban, al Qaeda and similar other outfits and look at the terror unleashed by Turks, Lodis, Mughals, etc. on the Hindus and search for common links for their inhumane, atrocious barbarism, I am compelled to come to conclusion that the common link that binds  “rakshasas”  of 8th to 17th century with 21st century ones is nothing but Islam.

We have heard the stale argument that no religion teaches violence, that Islam is not to be blamed, these are misguided followers, etc. But the questions that beg answers are, why doesn’t Islam have a self-correcting feature?  Why do Muslims by and large keep mum in face of such cruelty?  Isn’t keeping silent a tacit approval?  There are enough “aayats” in Quran advocating violence and subterfuge, so I am not even going into that.

Point is, should the Hindus live in the utopia of Hindu-Muslim bhai bhai and close their eyes to the reality? Should Hindus look at every Muslim with suspicion? Should those Muslims who don’t agree with ways and means of ISIS, Taliban and the al Qaeda continue to keep quiet?

Indian Secularism is not Secular- by Maria Wirth

“It is a sad irony. Can you imagine the Jews honouring the Germans with preferential treatment instead of seeking compensation for the millions of Jews killed? Yet Islam and Christianity that have gravely harmed Indians over centuries get preferential treatment by the Indian state, and their own beneficial dharma that has no other home except the Indian subcontinent, is egged out. And to top it, this is called ‘secular’!”

LETTER TO NEWS INDIA TIMES, NEW YORK                          May 18, 2013

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Indian American Intellectual Forum and its entire national and international constituency I want to convey that we are appalled upon using purposely a divisive and mischievous title “Dalit Leader Named Chief Minister of Karnataka” (News India Times, dated May 16th) by your reporter. We are convinced that this title is politically motivated, mean, mendacious, malicious and a diabolical attempt designed to create a wedge in Hindu society and fragment it to the advantage of the establishment.

If your reporter was interested in igniting a new class warfare based on societal divisions that previously existed in the Indian and Hindu society in all fairness he should not have ignored the appointment and placement of the selective minority individuals by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi in highly sensitive positions in the government in office. Trampling upon the sentiments of the majority of Indians she has quietly handed over most crucial and extremely important portfolios to her pet individuals from Muslims and Christians communities. Here are some examples.

Salman Khurshid, Foreign Minister of India; E. Ahmad, India’s Minister for External Affairs; Syed Akbarddin, the spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs; Chief of Intelligence Bureau, Syed Asif Ibrahim; Chief Justice of India, Altmas Kabir; Attorney General of India, Goolam E. Vahanvati; Vice President of India Mohammed Hameed Ansari; Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad;, Union Minister Farooq Abdullah, K. Rahman Khan, Sonia Gandhi’s political Advisor Ahmad Patel all are Muslims. Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, S.Y. Qureshi was also a Muslim.

Isn’t it ironic that your reporter while reporting about these pet individuals of Sonia Gandhi  never identified them as Muslims, Sunnis, Shiias or Christians. Can it be an inadvertent error?

Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi, Defense Minister A.K. Anthony, Air Chief Marshall Norman Anil Kumar Browne all are Christians. However, strangely enough their identification is never made by referring to their religion or Jati. Could it also be a mistake?

The Dalits, as is universally acknowledged, are an integral part of the Hindu Samaj. Quietly and constructively Hindu society has been at work for bringing about social reformation so that  justice and equality become  a part of every body  including those who for one or the other reason have thus far been denied such rights.  Included in the scheme of this massive transformation are those who were classified as unprivileged. We are determined to make equality,  justice,  national unity and patriotism four central pillars of Indian’s modern civilization. Alas! your reporter failed to recognize these characteristics in the New Indian Society. Clearly your reporter’s intention smacks of mala-fide intention. We have not seen any news report loudly proclaiming that Sonia and Rahul are Catholic Christians, and that Salman Khurshid, Altmas Kabir and all others mentioned above are Muslims.

A doubt has crept in our minds that some anti-Hindu Communists, communalists and far left guys entrenched in top most positions in Media are deliberately sowing the seeds of disintegration and conflict in Hindu Samaj. They twist and craft their items in such a way as to serve their sinister and evil designs.

We firmly believe that your reporter has done a great disservice to his profession and more importantly to Hindu Samaj. It is incomprehensible as to what on earth prompted him to damage Hindu Society. Instead of drafting and highlighting his news item negatively the reporter could have done a great service to his profession by staying on facts, projecting positivity and by helping the ongoing efforts by millions of Hindu volunteers towards unification and revitalization of the entire Hindu Society.

Bangladesh: Wave of violent attacks against Hindu minority – Press release by Amnesty International

Bangladesh: Wave of violent attacks against Hindu minority

A wave of violent attacks against Bangladesh’s minority Hindu community
shows the urgent need for authorities to provide them with better
protection, Amnesty International said.

Over the past week, individuals taking part in strikes called for by
Islamic parties have vandalised more than 40 Hindu temples across
Bangladesh.

Scores of shops and houses belonging to the Hindu community have also been
burned down, leaving hundreds of people homeless.

The attacks come in the context of large scale violent protests that have
been raging across Bangladesh for weeks over the country’s ongoing war
crimes tribunal, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

“The Hindu community in Bangladesh is at extreme risk, in particular at
such a tense time in the country. It is shocking that they appear to be
targeted simply for their religion. The authorities must ensure that they
receive the protection they need,” said Abbas Faiz, Amnesty International’s
Bangladesh Researcher.

“All political parties in Bangladesh should condemn strongly any violence
against the Hindu community, and to instruct all their members and
supporters not to take part in such attacks.”

Survivors told Amnesty International that the attackers were taking part in
rallies organised by the opposition Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and
its student group Chhatra Shibir.

JI has publicly denied any involvement in violence against the Hindu
community.

Attacks have happened across Bangladesh, but mostly in remote areas in the
country. The latest attack took place today in Daudkandi village,
south-eastern Comilla district, where a Hindu temple was vandalised and
burned down.

One survivor told Amnesty International that on 28 February, his family’s
village of Rajganj Bazar in the south-eastern Noakhali district was set on
fire by people taking part in a JI-organised strike.

“They moved into our properties and set fire to 30 of our houses.
Seventy-six families were living in these houses. They also set fire to our
temples – all are now vanished,” the survivor said, who asked to remain
anonymous out of concerns for his safety.

He said the authorities have provided temporary accommodation to the
affected families, who had lost almost all their belongings to theft or
destruction in the violence.

Another survivor said that on 2 March, a group of about 100 young men
holding banners in support of JI looted and damaged four shops in Satkania
near Chittagong and vandalised a Hindu temple in the village.

Bangladesh’s Hindu minority makes up only eight per cent of the population,
and has historically been at risk of violence from the Muslim population –
including during the independence war in 1971, and after elections in 2001.

“Given the obvious risks the Hindu minority faces in Bangladesh, these
attacks were sadly predictable. We urge the authorities to take note of the
violence and act to prevent further attacks,” said Faiz.

Tensions have been running high in Bangladesh in recent weeks as JI and its
student wing have called strikes and mass protests against the ICT, which
has found some of its senior members guilty for crimes committed during the
1971 war.

Protesters have also been involved in violent clashes with police, who have
used tear gas, rubber bullets or live ammunition against them. At least 60
people have been killed, mostly by police fire, but among the dead are also
several policemen.

“While there are credible reports that police firing may have followed
violent attacks against them by protesters, police use of excessive force
cannot be discounted”, Faiz said.
